The mission of the Concord Historical Society is to preserve, educate and promote the history and people of the Village of Springville and the Town of Concord. Toward these goals our more recent activities have included the revitalization of the exhibits in the Pop Warner Historical Museum, the acquisition of the adjacent Fish Bowl property and the creation of the circa 1890's Mercantile General Store and most recently the spearheading of the Village Clock project culminating in the erection of the 19 ft Seth Thomas replica clock on the site of the original Farmer's Bank in Springville. We also continue to offer genealogy research in the Lucy Bensley Center.
The success of the Mercantile can be measured in the over 15,000 visitors who have signed our guestbook in just the 4 years since we have finished this building. The weekly performances of 15 - 25 musicians continue to draw standing room only crowds to enjoy the Country, Bluegrass and Country Gospel genre.
To continue our historical mission, our next project will be the Heritage Building expansion project. This 40 ft by 40 ft, 2 story building behind the existing Concord Mercantile will add over 850 sq ft of display area and an additional 750 sq ft of seating area for live music and small gatherings. The upstairs area will provide over 700 sq ft of much needed storage space. The Heritage Building will feature store front displays of downtown Springville 1920 ~ 1960.

There will be 3 permanent displays, one for George Schuster and our one of a kind collection of memorabilia from the 1908 NY to Paris Auto Race, a 1/2 scale replica of the 4 story 1877 Leland House and the 1949 Art Deco style Joylan Theater. Additional semi permanent/rotating displays will show Dr RB Waite's Dental Office, Pop Warner's football and American Indian collections, Jack Yellen's Music Store, Kuhn's original drugstore, Concord Medical Center, a lavatory and small kitchenette.
This project, estimated to cost approximately $200,000 will require the financial and volunteer support of many members, families, friends and local organizations. To complete this project in a reasonable period of time we plan to raise sufficient funds to have local contractors do the site preparation, foundation work and to erect and enclose the building shell. Community volunteers will then step forward to complete the interior store front construction and display areas. Projected completion is by 2017.
Contributors will be recognized in a variety of ways within the Heritage Building. Some names will be on plaques, others will have names on office windows, cornerstones or on the buildings themselves.
